Mitsubishi Consumer Electronics plans to introduce its high-definition television sets in fourth quarter 1998 with prices between $8,000 and $11,000. The company will roll out three or four HD-1080 Series (named for its 1,080-line HDTV resolution) CRT-based, rear-projection units, with mid- to large-screen sizes.
The sets will use decoder chips developed by Mitsubishi Electric and Lucent Technologies.
