U.S. satellite manufacturer Loral Space & Communications may emerge with just under 50% of Thailand-based Asia Broadcasting & Communications, which is undergoing ownership restucturing. Loral owns 8% of the cashstrapped group, which plans to launch LaoStar-1 in first quarter 1998 for its planned regional DTH service.
Telesat Canada's 5% holding may also increase significantly. The current controlling shareholder is Thai businessman Sondhi Limthongkul's M Group.
