TCI Music's proposed $24 million takeover of Paradigm Music will likely create new music programming models online and a SonicNet TV service for Internet/TV. Paradigm is developing a SonicNet TV entity--based on the popular Web music service--that would marry Internet and TV technology.

The service is intended for Microsoft's WebTV and Net-Channel, according to Paradigm President Thomas McPartland, who says he has discussed the subject with both companies. McPartland also envisions SonicNet programming music content for @Home, in what could be the first online pay-per-concert events. "It's a possibility," says McPartland, who will be president of TCI Music when the merger is consummated. "We're very bullish on @Home-type distribution platforms."...
