The Department of Justice and Microsoft Corp. traded salvos again last week, as the DOJ sought a contempt citation from the federal court that issued a preliminary injunction against the Redmond, Wash., giant the week before. DOJ last week said Microsoft's professed compliance with the court order to allow computer manufacturers to separate its Internet Explorer from Windows 95 was a sham.

DOJ argued that Microsoft is offering original equipment manufacturers "options in name only": an outdated version of the Windows 95 operating system without Explorer or a beta version with bugs.
