Arledge hands news reins to Westin. (Roone Arledge to be replaced by David Westin as CEO of ABC News)

As expected, Roone Arledge has given up the reins of ABC News, effective today (June 1). He will still retain the title of chairman, ABC News, and add the title of senior vice president, ABC Inc. David Westin, president of ABC News, succeeds Arledge as chief executive of the news division and will report directly to ABC Inc. President Robert Iger. The new assignments complete the transition ABC announced 15 months ago when Westin was named president of the news division, succeeding Arledge, who was named chairman/CEO of ABC news. Arledge will continue to work with Iger on various programing development activities. He will also continue as a director of ESPN.
