Industry: Email Alert RSS FeedTribune taps NDS for HDTV encoding.
Broadcasting & Cable, November, 1998 by Anderson, Karen
Tribune Broadcasting has signed a master purchase agreement for ATSC encoding systems at predetermined prices for each of its 18 TV stations. According to ha Goldstone, Tribune vice president of engineering and technology, Tribune plans to transmit HDTV formats compatible with its affiliated networks as well as 480P/60 signals for its locally originated programs.
"We wanted to ensure that each station had the flexibility to use the same equipment to broadcast multiple channels of either 480P/60 or 4801/30 programming," Goldstone says. Los Angeles WB affilate KTLA(TV) already is using the nonredundant 10801 encoder.
