Broadcasting & Cable, February, 1999

Hearst New Media and Women.com formed Women.com Networks last week, a 50/50 joint venture that will cull content from Hearst's HomeArts.com network and Womencom. The companies expect the new Women.com to draw 11% of all female Web traffic, according to Marleen McDaniel, CEO of Women.com, who said the deal is a prelude to a planned IPO for the venture in the "near future." Womencom claims 4 million visitors to its site monthly.
