Cable companies will get a chance to air their differences with Internet service providers and telephone companies when the Senate Commerce Committee holds a hearing on broadband services April 13. Senate Commerce Committee Chairman John McCain (RAriz.) plans to introduce legislation on the issue shortly after the hearing, he said last week after speaking at a Washington conference.

Details on the planned bill were vague, but McCain believes that the government should not keep telephone companies from offering broadband services if cable companies are not forced to share their new high-speed networks with potential competitors, a McCain aide said.
