Emmis pushes forward on Internet portal.(Brief Article)(Statistical Data Included)

Emmis Communications is naming names. The TV-radio-magazine company says it has several confirmed media partners in its effort to create an Internet portal that it hopes will rival Yahoo! In addition to Emmis, members of the "founding group" are Bonneville International, Citadel Communications, Greater Media, Jefferson-Pilot and Susquehanna, said Emmis Radio President Doyle L Rose.

The disclosure was made last Thursday at a radio/Internet conference sponsored by Radio Inc. Given that other media companies are lining up to join the consortium, at launch the portal will have a pool of more than 100 million users, according to Rose.
