Warns that consumers could rebel over broadband access issue--recalls Boston Tea Party Don't let arrogance provoke a "modem-day Boston Tea Party" over broadband access, FCC Chairman William Kennard warned the cable industry last week. "The American people still have a penchant for throwing things over when they feel they can't control their own destiny," Kennard told the Western Show.

Noting that his Dec. 16 speech was being delivered on the 226th anniversary of the famous protest in Boston Harbor, he warned that a similar revolt will result if consumers decide the industry is abusing the federal government's hands-off policy toward broadband deployment.
