The move by four major cable operators to add Sprint Nextel cellular service to their product "bundles" is not a bold deal, but it is a savvy one. Ending months of speculation about their wireless-phone play, Comcast, Time Warner Cable, Cox Communications and Advance/Newhouse Communications last week teamed up to offer cellphone service by Sprint.

With cellphone TV a red-hot topic among media and telecom executives, the companies are trying to keep everyone focused on the future, proclaiming that the new $200 million joint venture will "develop converged next-generation products for consumers that combine the best of cable's core products and interactive features with the vast potential of wireless technology to deliver services anywhere" True....
