A record number of video executives from both the supply side and the retail side were expected to attend the Food Marketing Institute's General Merchandise/Health & Beauty Care Conference & Educational Exposition in New Orleans Oct. 25-28. Early last week, preregistration stood at 2,127, a 22% increase over last year at the same time, according to FMI officials.

A big reason for the increase is the first-ever "Video Showcase" exhibit area, which has drawn 76 video suppliers. The total number of exhibitors at the non-food show is up 28%, to 392 from 307 last year.
