Media giants learn lessons in synergy. (Viacom New Media, Time Warner Interactive take advantage of programming libraries)

In forming interactive divisions, major entertainment companies have set their sights on product from the vast programming libraries that the conglomerates hold. Viacom New Media and Time Warner interactive (formerly Time Warner Interactive Group) are beginning to take advantage of properties at their fingertips, culled from TV, film, music and books.

Many in the industry have questioned the fate of Viacom New Media, whose parent company, Viacom International, has acquired Paramount Communications. Both Viacom New Media and Paramount Interactive produce multimedia products, including CD-ROM.
