Los Angeles - Walt Disney Home Video is backing its Oct. 28 release of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs with what the company asserts is the largest marketing effort in video history, promising 8 billion consumer impressions from the title's launch into 1995.
As anticipated (VB, 4/29), the company announced marketing plans for the $26.99 title at a press breakfast April 28, complete with Dixieland band, taped presentation and an appearance by costumed characters from the film.
Although executives declined to estimate how many copies Snow White is expected to ship, they said that more than 20 million would be a satisfactory number. Disney's sales figures put Aladdin at 24 million copies and Beauty and the Beast at 22 million.
