Just weeks after its scheduled Nov. 18 theatrical re-release, The Lion King will be in video soliciation. Walt Disney Home Video will release The Lion King on video Feb. 28 priced at $26.99, according to distributors. Order close is Jan. 17. The nationally advertised availability date (NAAD) is March 3.
Although executives at Disney declined to comment on the release information, distributor executives said the title, predictably, will be backed by a host of cross-promotional partners. According to sales materials issued by Disney, partners are said to include Burger King Corp., which tied in with the movie's original theatrical release last summer, Mattel, Ralston Purina Co.'s Chex cereals, and Pillsbury Foods.
