Sony's promised "just in time" inventory-replenishment system for PlayStation software is running late. Reorders of popular PlayStation games such as NFL Game Day, Twisted Metal, War Hawk and Mortal Kombat 3 took as long as four weeks to reach stores late last year, according to distributors and retailers who experienced delays.

One of the key selling points of CD-based video-game systems - including PlayStation, Sega Saturn and CD-ROM for PCs - is the ability to manufacture and ship product in a week.
