Launched in part to distract game players from next week's Nintendo 64 debut, Sony's Crash Bandicoot and Sega's Nights have sold well but have yet to prove the blockbusters their publishers hoped they would be.

Backed by multimillion-dollar ad campaigns, the titles were touted as the killer applications needed to send customers scurrying to stores to buy the hardware. However, both retailers and game manufacturers agree that it will take time to determine the titles' full impact on hardware sales.
