In the past couple of years, banking by computer has made a huge splash with American consumers. And now PC banking is available not just to individuals but to small businesses as well. San Francisco-based Wells Fargo was one of the first to offer online banking services to small businesses, but others have quickly followed suit, sparking a rapidly growing trend.

A recent report released by accounting firm Ernst & Young predicts a 600% increase in retail transactions through PCs by 1998, with similar expansion in small-business use. According to the report, 84% of banks currently offer or plan to offer online services.
