The first truly interactive DVD players--those equipped with Nuon technology--start to hit the U.S. market next month. Backers hope Nuon will fuel the format's already explosive growth by adding gaming and Internet capabilities to DVD's repertoire. Next month, Samsung Electronics America Inc.

will release its N-2000, the first DVD players enhanced with the Mountain View, Calif.-based VM Lab's Nuon circuitry, which turns a player into an all-in-one interactive entertainment system.
