Toshiba's DVD hardware lineup is portable, NUON-ready.

LA COSTA, CALIF.--Toshiba is ready to unleash a variety of new DVD players on the market, including a NUON-enhanced model, a DVD-Video/Audio combo and the company's first portable DVD player.

"DVD is now just beginning to realize its full potential in the marketplace," director of product management craig Eggers said during a recent product-line showing this month. This fall, the company is running a promotion with Pepsi under which consumers can receive $15 to $50 rebates on 11 Toshiba models.

On the DVD-Audio front, Toshiba expects this fall to introduce model SD 9200, which should sell for a suggested $1,999. "Everything about this player says 'rich,'" Eggers said.
