Napster no more: Spinal Tap launches Tapster.(Brief Article)(Statistical Data Included)

Think the world will soon have to spin without Napster? Well, now there's Tapster (www.tapster.com), an online music sharing service launched July 27 to coincide with the pitched court battle between Napster and the music industry, which is suing the service for copyright infringement.

OK, so Tapster carries only one song, heavy metal band Spinal Tap's "Back From the Dead." And the service was actually launched to promote MGM Home Entertainment's Sept. 12 home video rerelease of Rob Reiner's 1984 classic This Is Spinal Tap on VHS (prebook Aug. 15; $14.95) and special-edition DVD (prebook now; $29.98). But hey, at least the site won't find itself on the end of a lawsuit.
