Napster-like Swapoo invades videogames.(Brief Article)

A Napster-like service has emerged to share videogame files. Swapoo (swapoo.zophar.net), formerly known as RomNet, enables videogame fans to download freeware and demos of popular titles produced by the major game companies. The service, which initially allowed the swapping of ROM files, was started July 26 by Philadelphia college computer programming major Jeffrey Freeman demonstrate his skills to potential employers.

The site has been altered as a vehicle to swap shareware and demo files--something Freeman believes will keep him safe from lawsuits similar to the one filed by the music industry against Napster.
