For the second straight year, Sega of America will sponsor the MTV Video Music Awards, this time to launch its ad campaign to support its online gaming network SegaNet and its ISP service. Sega used the 1999 show to push its Dreamcast message to consumers. During this year's event on Sept.

7, one 60-second spot-and two 30-second spots will premiere during the broadcast. In addition, Ulala, a dancing character from Sega game Space Channel 5, will be used to promote the show by introducing the best dance video category in 50 spots. The MTV Video Music Awards are expected to reach 22 million viewers.
