Distributor Valley Media recently launched a customer incentive program that rewards retailers who order select titles with free gas. Retailers who signed up to participate in the program received their Valley Rewards cards in August. The gas debit cards, which arrived in retailers' mailboxes with a starting balance of $5, increase in value when the retailer orders titles included in the Valley Rewards program.
Richard Goffman, director of marketing, said that despite the fact that the Valley Rewards cards were not distributed until several weeks ago, retailers have had the chance to earn dollars for free gas on program titles since June.
