Spinal screener lacking.(MGM Home Entertainment corrects error in videocassette screeners and advance DVDs of This Is Spinal Tap)(Brief Article)

Video Business, September, 2000

* The final release version of MGM Home Entertainment's This Is Spinal Tap will be somewhat different from the videocassette screeners and advance DVDs the studio shipped several weeks ago to retailers and media. Blake Thomas, executive VP of worldwide marketing, said the studio used a "textless" copy of the film, used to make prints for the international market, for the test and review copies and superimposed character identifications were inadvertently omitted.

The identifications, which add to the humor in the 1984 cult classic, appear on previous home video editions. MGM said it has corrected the error and expects to ship the product "on or near" the Sept. 12 street date.
