New chairman and CEO Paul Rosenbaum sees Rentrak Corp.'s core revenue-sharing distribution business as more valuable than he did when he rook control of the company two months ago. During an upbeat Nov. 9 conference call to report third-quarter earnings, Rosenbaum said he took over the helm of Rentrak with the "preconceived idea that the company's core revenue-sharing business was mature" and the value of Rentrak stock would "rest upon the shoulders" of e-fulfillment subsidiary 3PF.com.

Now, however, Rosenbaum said he sees PPT as a "potential growth business." He has charged company executive VP Michael Lightbourne with reviewing how Rentrak's transaction reporting software can be applied to future movie delivery options and whether it's feasible to...
