Game Boy Advance about $90.(Nintendo Company Ltd.)(Brief Article)

Video Business, December, 2000 by Gaudiosi, John

Nintendo is expected to price its Game Boy Advance at $89-$99 when the next-generation handheld console debuts in the U.S. in July, the same price as the current Game Boy Color system GBA will replace.

Nintendo officials said the U.S. price has not been set but that the Japanese price translates to about $90.

All major publishers, including Electronic Arts, are jumping aboard the GBA bandwagon, bringing popular characters such as Mario, Rayman, Spider-Man, Spyro the Dragon and Crash Bandicoot to the portable, 32-bit system. The backward compatibility with Game Boy Color ensures an influx of titles for the older system next year as well.

GBA is expected to launch here with more than 10 first-party and 12 third-party titles.
