* Toymaker Mattel is readying the first full-length Barbie movie in time for an October release at retail. The 84-minute, stop-action video will star Barbie as The Nutcracker's Clara; Ken will share the spotlight as the Nutcracker himself. Peter Martins, New York City Ballet Master in Chief, will provide the choreography for the film, with the London Symphony Orchestra performing The Nutcracker score by Tchaikovsky.
Mattel reportedly plans to make the video available with a line of eight Nutcracker-themed dolls, a book, apparel and a Hallmark Christmas ornament.
