According to The New York Times, Steven Spielberg intends to release E.T.: The Extra Terrestrial on DVD next year with digital theater sound or a DTS soundtrack. The acclaimed director said the enhanced sound will make the emotional experience qualitatively different ... The RIAA and the Secure Digital Music Initiative have sent a letter to the judge in the Felten case asserting that they will not file any lawsuit against the Princeton professor for publishing a scholarly paper on cracking the watermarks RIAA and SDMI were testing for digital music files.
Thus...there is no longer a justiciable controversy before the court," the letter says. The two groups are asking the court to dismiss the professor's complaint.
