With Microsoft's decision to push back the North American launch of its Xbox console by a week, some retailers have been asking Nintendo for more GameCubes as insurance. After a week rife with rumors fueled by major game publishers and retailers that Microsoft was finding it hard to deliver the promised 600,000 units on Nov.
8, Xbox executives said they were indeed shifting the console's release to Nov. 15 (VB, 9-24). Microsoft executives would not say how many units would be shipped at launch, saying only that 100,000 units would be delivered per week after Nov. 15 and 1 million to 1.5 million systems would be pumped into North America this year.
