Playboy, Image shacking up.

After nearly four months without a distributor, Playboy Home Video will resume shipping VHS and DVD product this month through a newly signed exclusive multiyear licensing and distribution agreement with Image Entertainment.

The deal runs through 2004 with two automatic 1-year extensions and covers the U.S. and Canada.

Playboy Home Video senior VP and general manager Barry Leshtz said Playboy chose Image because it is an aggressive distributor yet small enough to give Playboy the attention it desires. "We're much more important to them," he said. 'We're a bigger fish in a smaller pond."

Playboy will street new releases starting Nov. 13, and catalog product will be released starting this month. On Oct. 8, Playboy planned to announce...
