Maverick Entertainment is shaping up its first release slate since splitting with partner York Entertainment late last year. Headed by producer and former Blockbuster Video senior buyer Doug Schwab, Maverick has acquired four video premieres including urban romantic comedy Chatroom, which reteams Nothin' 2 Lose's director Barry Bowles and its leading man Brian Hooks in a story about a group of guys who cruise the Internet to find women.
Maverick is eyeing a July release. Its other acquisitions are urban actioner Pressure, directed by TV and film actor Juney Smith; Go for Bnke, a comedy about two friends who purchase a winning lottery ticket only to have it stolen, written and directed by Jean Claude La Marre and featuring music artists Pras (of the...
