Most distributors on May 2 got faxed notice from Columbia TriStar Home Entertainment that the studio would stop accepting their orders in 60 days, according to Bill Burton, executive director of the National Association of Video Distributors. Columbia executives declined comment. The studio late last month told wholesalers that it will use Ingram Entertainment and VPD as its exclusive middleman beginning with titles released in late summer (VB, 4-29).
Flash Distributors, Wax Works/Video Works, Baker &Taylor and sell-through distributors will no longer be able to order product directly through the studio.
