In a move to compete more aggressively with sell-through specialists, Blockbuster has said it will match any advertised price for the VHS or DVD of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. If customers find a local retail advertisement listing the video at a lower price than Blockbuster is offering, the rentailer will match it.
Blockbuster stores are pricing it at $16.99 on VHS and $19.99 on DVD. The promotion marks a first for the company. "We're looking at a couple different promotions with this title," a Blockbuster spokeswoman said. "There's a lot of excitement around this title, and we're looking to create an irresistible item for the customer." Blockbuster has not announced price-matching plans for other titles.
