WASHINGTON--Digital copy protection is becoming a growth industry on Capitol Hill. Last week, the chairman and ranking member of the House Judiciary Committee weighed into the debate with a missive to technology companies and the entertainment industry, urging them to work out their differences and get on with the transition to digital TV and expanding entertainment options on the Internet to spur the growth of broadband.

With the chairman's statement, the committee became the fourth congressional panel to take an official interest in resolving the dispute.
