One year to the day after launching the Xbox, Microsoft Corp. will unveil its online game service for the console on Nov. 15.
To access Xbox Live, garners will have to buy a Starter Kit for $49.95. Microsoft said last week that more than 5,000 retailers in North America will have the kit, which includes a one-year subscription to the broadband service as well as the Xbox Communicator headset.
The Starter Kit will also include a "minigame" that will allow players to test the capabilities of the service. For full interactivity, users must buy one of seven games that will have Xbox Live capabilities on Nov. 15: Unreal Championship, Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon, NFL 2K3, NBA 2K3, Whacked!, MechAssault and NFL Fever 2003.
