America Online has long desired to reap additional subscription fees as a place for the masses to play online games. In last week's launch of its new First Play area, the service is attempting to draw more attention to its online game fare by offering exclusive access to upcoming online games and exclusive demos of upcoming video and PC games.

First Play launched with the help of AOL's primary game partner Electronic Arts in the form of the latter's Need For Speed: Top Speed online-only racing title. Based on this fall's upcoming Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit 2 retail franchise, Top Speed exclusively features Porsche's new Cayenne Turbo sport utility vehicle. Gamers will also find a special Hot Pursuit 2 video demo and screenshot slide show on First Play....
