Nintendo of America will introduce an inexpensive expansion module in May that will enable the GameCube console to play thousands of Game Boy and Game Boy Advance titles. The Game Boy Player will fit snugly at the base of the GameCube with the handheld cartridges inserted in the front.

The module will go on sale in Japan in March for 5,000 yen ($41). Pricing has not been set for the U.S., but Nintendo of America VP of marketing and corporate affairs Perrin Kaplan told VB the price here will be in that ballpark. Kaplan could not say what percentage of people who own Nintendo's handheld Game Boy or GBA devices are also GameCube owners.
