With a slate of initiatives to expand its presence in the Internet video arena, Web content delivery company RealNerwotks Inc. is attempting to prove that online subscription broadcasting is a viable money-maker. RealNetworks last week repotted that its fiscal 2002 revenue dipped 3% to $182.7 million, but its net loss narrowed to $38.4 million from red ink of $74.8 million in 2001.

A slate of programming deals helped the company, best known for its RealPlayer software, produce a smaller loss than was expected and boost its profile as a content provider.
