It's hard to say which was more startling: the rapid collapse of Saddam Hussein's regime in Baghdad or Disney chief Michael Eisner's abrupt about face on the merits of digital technology. Given that Saddam's fall was ultimately just a matter of time, though, I'd have to go with Eisner. It wasn't a year ago that Eisner marched up Capitol Hill and accused the high-tech industry of promoting piracy as the "killer app" for digital technology.

Yet there he was at the National Association of Broadcasters convention last week declaring, "We will not let the fear of piracy prevent us from fueling the fundamental impulse to innovate and improve our products and how they are distributed."
