Shades of the shrinking video window: just 17 days for Warner's Cradle.(Warner Home Video announces the video and VOD release datess for 'Cradle 2 the Grave')

In an unusual example of the tightening of the window between home video and pay-per-view/video-on-demand, urban action flick Cradle 2 the Grave will debut on digital cable service In Demand and other VOD services just 17 days after its Aug. 12 release on DVD and VHS from Warner Home Video.

The film, which stars Jet Li and DMX, debuted in theaters on Feb. 28 and took in $35 million at the box office. WHV, which also handles PPV/VOD business for the studio, wouldn't comment. Last week, WHV simultaneously released The Animatrix--which was billed as a DVD premiere release--on DVD and VOD/PPV for In Demand DirecTV's Blockbuster Ticker and other PPV services. It also was available on the studio-supported online movie rental service Movielink for $4.95. ...
