* Barbie of Swan Lake, the third straight fourth-quarter video premiere from Artisan and toy giant Mattel, launches Sept. 30 (prebook Aug. 19) with a suggested retail price of $19.98 for both DVD and VHS. The CGI-animated title this time features Barbie in a contemporary twist of the 19th century German fairy tale.
The release follows 2001's Barbie in the Nutcracker and last year's Barbie as Rapunzel., which together have sold nearly 8 million units, said FHE president Glenn Ross. "They enjoy a year-round business, not just the fourth quarter," Ross said. "And the fact that the series has sustained itself into a third movie is really quite an accomplishment.
