* Officials with online auction giant eBay emerged from the VSDA convention this year convinced they had laid the groundwork for expanding a fledgling wholesale distribution business they say accounts for 5% of their DVD and VHS sales. Matt Ledwith, a senior category manager for eBay, said the company met with a number of top home entertainment units and managed to add "one of the top secondary distributors" to a list of suppliers that sell product on eBay.
Artisan and Ventura already use eBay to sell product. He said the four introductory seminars for video retailers at the conference drew about 200 attendees. These seminars went so well, Ledwith said, that eBay will conduct them at next year's conference as well as at the Sept. 30-Oct. 2 East Coast Video Show...
