* Consumers are taking advantage of DVD's higher quality audio and video and getting the gear to experience it. According to a Jupiter Research survey of online users, 58% of consumers make speaker quality for home theater surround sound a priority, and 36% enhance their room acoustics. The study found that some 47% of consumers who plan to buy surround sound systems estimate they'll spend between $1,000 and $5,000 on home theater in the next year. Jupiter's report says that nearly one of every three DVD households surveyed (31%) has a digital surround sound system, and as prices plunge for basic systems, consumer electronics retailers say that home theater in a box systems are among the fast-selling products.
