Internet video-on-demand revenue will grow rapidly in the next five years, from $11.7 million on sites such as CinemaNow and Movielink in 2004 to nearly $1 billion in 2010, according to a study to be released this week by Informa Media Group. The growth, according to report author Adam Thomas, will be fueled by greater financial investment in the sector, lower price points and advances in home networking.

The good news for retailers of packaged media, however, is that online hard copy sales will still make up the majority of film revenue on the Internet: $2.6 billion in 2010, up from $1.6 billion in 2004.
