Studios hold key to streaming success: confab panelists also cite tech concerns.(Digital Hollywood)

SANTA MONICA, CALIF. -- Getting studios to license more content for streaming video and downloads online remains the key challenge for legal movie download services, according to panelists at Digital Hollywood. During the three-day confab here, executives from CinemaNow, Movielink, Real Networks and Akimbo said movie downloads are years off from reaching the mainstream.

That's partly due to limited content offerings from the major studios and partly because it will probably be a while before Internet-to-TV connections are common in U.S. homes, panelists said.
