Is Apple getting ready to introduce a video version of its popular iPod music player? Reports last week of talks between Apple and the major music labels about selling music videos through iTunes has reignited speculation over whether the pioneering computer maker has broader designs on the portable video market.
A report in the Wall Street Journal said the company could introduce a video iPod as soon as this September. Apple would neither confirm nor deny any imminent plans for a portable video player, but analysts who follow the company say it has quietly been putting pieces in place for the past several months for an eventual move into the market.
