Blue gung-ho on vidgames: Niche getting renewed attention.(Big Blue)

Emerging from the dust of an epic battle for control of the company, Blockbuster is putting some increased firepower behind its games business as it looks to reignite corporate growth. Big Blue recently named one-time Blockbuster International exec Bryan Bevin to head up a restructured videogame operation.

The move keys in part on keen industry anticipation of the game platforms set to start arriving in 2006. Bevin, who left the company in 2000, is returning to oversee the retailer's core games business as well as its Game Rush store-in-store brand and Rhino Video Games, Blue's standalone game subsidiary.
