EXECUTIVE SUMMARY: * HD DVD has made pronouncements of a fourth-quarter launch to pressure Blu-ray out of the high-definition format war, but with time running out and hardware plans still uncertain, the launch is looking less and less likely. * A better anti-Blu-ray tactic might have been to target votes in the DVD Forum and investigate the group's stalled approval of HD DVD.
