After calling off its planned merger with ContentFilm a year ago this week, First Look Media has pacted to merge with Henry Winterstern's burgeoning indie banner Capital Entertainment" The two entities will be combined to create First Look Studios, with Winterstern as CEO and co-chairman. The companies are still working out division of duties for home entertainment.
Capital will become a DVD label, which will be stamped on its upcoming American Idol releases. It's likely that First Look will distribute Capital titles. First Look and Capital expect no job slashing, as there is little overlap. Richard Williams is staying on as head of Capital's DVD activities. Bill Bromiley will continue as senior VP sales for First Look Home Entertainment.
